 What is Glycin?

Glycine is an organic compound and is also the smallest of the 20 common amino acids in proteins. It is a sweet tasting, colorless, crystalline solid. Glycine is a common building block to many natural products and is a precursor to proteins. It is also used as an additive in animal food and as a food supplement and sweetener in food destined for human consumption.
Glycine can be produced in the human body and has a variety of functions. It is particularly essential in the central nervous system and is present in high concentrations in the spinal cord and brain stem. It is also a major amino acid that makes up collagen, accounting for about one-third of collagen.

Application

 

Food Grade Glycine
Used in Alcoholic beverages, used as an acid corrector or buffer for the composition of wine and soft beverages;
Used as an additive for the making of sauce, vinegar, and fruit juice in order to improve the flavor and taste of food, retain its original color, and to provide a source of sweetness;
Used as an additive for the making of salted vegetables and sweet jams;
Used as an antiseptic agent for fish flakes and peanut jams because it can inhibit the reproduction of Bacillus subtilis and E.coil;
Used as a stabilizer for cream, cheese, margarine, fast cooked noodles, wheat flour, and pig lard because glycine has certain metal chelation and antioxidant effects;
Used in food processing, brewing process, and meat processing ingredients, as well as in saccharin sodium in order to remove bitterness;
Used as a stabilizer for Vitamin C;
10% of the raw material of monosodium glutamate is glycine;
Used as synthetic raw material for other amino acids.
