What is Chitosan Powder?
 

Chitosan is derived from natural chitin by deacetylation. Chitosan containing free amino group is the only basic polysaccharide among natural polysaccharides. It has good biocompatibility and unique physical and chemical properties.

Chitosan  also known as deacetylated chitin, soluble chitin, polyglucosamine. It is white or off-white, slightly pearly luster, translucent amorphous solid, decomposed at about 185 ° C, insoluble in water and dilute alkali solution, soluble in dilute organic acids and some inorganic acids such as hydrochloric acid, but insoluble in dilute sulfuric acid, dilute nitric acid, dilute phosphoric acid, oxalic acid, etc. Chitosan contains both hydroxyl group and amino group, which can be used to form various derivatives with different structures and properties through acylation, carboxylation, hydroxylation, cyanation, etheration, alkylation, esterification, aldehyde imide, azide, salting, chelating, hydrolysis, oxidation, halogenation, grafting and crosslinking.
