What is DL-Panthenol?
DL-Panthenol, also known as Dexpanthenol (D form) or Pro-vitamin B5, is a synthetic derivative of pantothenic acid, which is a form of vitamin B5. It is a white, odorless powder that is water-soluble. DL-Panthenol is considered a stable and versatile ingredient that is widely used in various industries, including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and personal care products. Vitamin B5 helps to boost cell production, making it an excellent ingredient for damaged skin and hair products. When applied for skin epithelization (wound healing), only D-Panthenol is converted to Vitamin B5 and not the L-Panthenol, so DL-Panthenol has only half of the physiological activity of D-Panthenol.
